Human Presence among the trees

•Additive color- mixing of colored light, they are green, red, and blue •Subtractive color- mixing of colored paints, pigments, inks and dyes, they are red blue and yellow •Spectrum- colors of the rainbow arranged in their natural order, ROY G BIV •Hues- one of the colors in the spectrum, have a circular order •Primary colors- red, yellow and blue, they are the 3 pigment colors that can not be mixed or formed by any combination of other colors and all the other colors are derived from these 3 hues •Secondary color- green, orange, and purple, colors that are formed by mixing the primary colors •Tertiary color- yellow-orange, red-orange, red-purple, blue-purple, blue-green, and yellow-green, colors formed by mixing a secondary and primary color, that's why hue is a two word •Analogous color- any three colors which are side by side on a 12 part color wheel such as yellow-green •Opposite and complementary color- any 2 colors which are directly opposite each other such as red and green, red-purple •Tint- color that is mixed with white •Shade-color that is mixed with black •Intensity- strength or value of a color •Transparent- colors that you can see through •Opaque- colors that you cannot see through •Warm colors- to be visually and emotionally exciting •Cool Colors- calming effect •Tone- lightness or darkness of a color, used to create the 3d illusion •Matt- creates a dull non-reflective surface •Gloss- gives a brighter reflective finish •Monochromatic- use of one color/shades in a single form •Know how to use color as a symbol, color as light and color as emotion- Color as symbol is used to make a certain color represent something in a drawing because red is used to represent danger, anger violence when associated with fire and when associated with the heart it represents love and passion. Color as light represents the colors from the rainbow in order demonstrating that colors come from light. Color as emotion represents our feelings such as green represents envy and red represents rage.

Zentangle Zentangle to the rescue

The title of the unit was zentangle art. I got started in this unit by searching different zentangle patterns and drawing them in small boxes. The media and skills I used throughout the unit was a brown piece of paper and a sharpie and it was dry media. Some skills I used was practicing the zentangle patterns on paper before doing it on the brown paper. I used the media and skills well because by practicing the zentangle patterns on paper before the brown paper I didn't mess up doing the patterns in sharpie. I found some difficulty drawing some zentangle patterns. The art elements that I used throughout the unit was lines. I used lines when drawing the tree and in the zentangle patterns. The following principles I used was patterns and I used them throught the whole drawing. No, I didn't use any different compositional arrangements. The media that my final work was produced in dry media in a piece of brown paper. My work was two dimensional. Yes I was happy with the final result because I enjoyed doing it.I enjoyed the project because drawing zentangle patterns was relaxing and fun. None of my skills have improved during this project. New skills I've learned was to practice the patterns several of times before doing my final work. Zentangle started when one day Maria was telling Rick what she experienced while drawing backgrounds patterns on a manuscript she was creating describing her freedom, feelings of timelessness, well being, and complete focus without thinking. Rick told her she was describing meditation and they wondered if they could create a simple system for others for a similar experience. What it is, is a fun relaxing and easy way to create pretty images. It is enjoyed all over the world and you can do Zen tangles anywhere.
